Nolan's 4th Birthday!

My middle child is 4! It sounds so old to me! I'm realizing now that he's really not a baby anymore and we really need to start treating him as such. Since he and Lydia are only 19 months apart, and Nolan had the speech delay when he was younger, I've always grouped them together. It's probably hurt Nolan more than anything, so my goals for this year in his life have to do with giving him more responsibilities and working more at home on academic-type activities.

Nolan has always been such a sweet boy. He is very caring and has such a warm heart (although, he forgets that at times when he gets angry!). He LOVES to play. His favorite thing to do is stay at home and play with superheroes, star wars toys, and legos. He and Ethan are finally into the same things, so it is a lot easier for them to play together and they get along pretty well. He still has a love/hate relationship with "Wydia," but I think they will end up being pretty close once the yelling and hitting over a "misunderstanding" becomes a little less frequent. He is such a wonderful little boy and we are so lucky that we get to be his parents!

Nolan's birthday was on a Monday this year, so we told him that we could do whatever he wanted to on the Sunday before. He chose to play legos in the morning as a family, go to McDonald's for lunch, and then go for a swim in our pool that afternoon. We saved the cake (for breakfast!) and presents for his actual birthday and took him out for ice cream that evening. He was so excited for his birthday this year and it was so fun to watch him experience it!
