On August 30th Nolan turned 5! He is getting to be such a big boy and he was SO excited for his birthday this year. He even asked me (a couple times I think) if he would look different on his birthday.
Nolan is the sweetest little boy. He randomly gives us hugs and says nice things and he notices little things (like when I do his sister's hair differently). His favorite thing to do is still play with his toys. He would rather stay at home and play with his toys than do anything else. When we drag him places (and we've gone to some pretty amazing places here) he usually complains in the begining until he forgets that he would rather be home. Nolan does love to swim though which is perfect with the pool in our yard. He and Lydia could play out there for hours. He is in Kinder 3 (the 3rd year of preschool) and seems to be enjoying it more than last year. He is also taking Spanish after school and tee ball and, in the evening, he has swim lessons.
It has been fun to see him develop friendships over the last year. The other night he was talking to his friend, Vedant (who moved from Mexico to China over the summer) on the phone. The conversation had no meaning whatsoever, but you could see the connection. Nolan's conversations usually revolve around super heroes (and now Harry Potter), but he and his friends have a great time together.
James and I are so proud to be able to call such a wonderful little boy ours!
