Ixtapa

If you read my blog about Puerto Vallarta, you know that we had a great time, but also had some illnesses and fear of the water to deal with.

Well, the Monday before we left for Ixtapa, Nolan woke up with a 103 degree fever. I figured he would be fine by the time we left, but also figured that the other two would get it. So, here we go again. Nolan was sick the entire week. Lydia ended up getting it on Wednesday and Ethan on Friday. Luckily, Nolan got the worst of it and Lydia and Ethan were fine after 24 hours. Whew, dodged that bullet.

Again, it was a beautiful drive to Ixtapa, but very different scenery than our drive to Puerto Vallarta:

We got to the resort, settled in a little, and went downstairs to check things out. As soon as we were in the lobby we ran into Nina and Grandpa! The kids were so happy to see them! We got a little something to eat and then checked the pools out:

They had a great kid's pool with a lot of slides. They enjoyed it the first day, but, for some
reason, that pool was pretty cold the rest of the days we were there.

Lydia enjoyed the water right away and even went down this steep slide. Her eyes got huge when she went down! She was so funny about it because she climbed all the way to the top to go down again, but was too scared. Everytime she would start climbing down the steps a kid would come up and she would hurry back up and sit down on "her" slide. She even pushed a big girl out of the way to get to it. She did eventually go down again, but only after reclaiming her slide a half a dozen times.

We spent the whole time we were there at the resort (Melia Azul - which is VERY kid-friendly) in the pool or on the beach. We did venture into Ixtapa one night for dinner, but had a great time at the resort the rest of the time.

The beach and water were beautiful and so was the view of the island.

Like I said, we spent most of our time by the pool. Once we bought the inflatable animals, this is how the kids looked the rest of the time:

We made some progress with the beach this trip too. Lydia didn't scream when her feet touched the sand and even played in the water a little bit. Nolan is still very afraid of the waves and water, but Nina got him in for a couple of minutes (holding him the whole time).

We got to have one dinner at a nice restaurant on the water. We got a babysitter for Lydia so we could have a peaceful dinner and it was great! The boys were great, the view was fantastic, and the food was yummy:

Lydia's ready for the pool...look how tan her legs are. Makes me sick!

Pictures from Flintstone Land. They had a great kid's program (for 5 and up) and
a childcare type thing for the younger kids. The theme was the Flintstones (which
I love) and they had a great jungle gym for the kids to play on as well.
We had a great time in Ixtapa and will definitely be back!
