After rescheduling the boys' birthday party a few times because of football and other commitments, we finally celebrated on September 22nd with family and friends. Ethan had a football game about 40 minutes away in Paw Paw that morning, so he and James headed out early that morning (meeting Nina and Grandpa at the field). The weather was horrible (raining and cold), so I decided to stay back with the little ones and get ready for the party. A storm blew in with thunder and lightening, so the game was cancelled after a quarter and a half. James and Ethan headed home with Sharon and Len following. Apparently James went to switch lanes on the highway, the road had unexpectedly turned to ice, and the car never gained any traction and went straight into the guardrail, totaling the car (picture at the end of the post!). Luckily, Ethan and James were shaken up, but completely fine. Ethan had a couple of scratches on his neck from the seatbelt and a scratch under his chin (probably from the football pads or DS). It was very scary when I got the call from my mother-in-law! I was so glad they were there, but also felt bad that they had to see their son and grandson get into such a bad accident. We have been thanking God ever since! Needless to say, the party went on. James wasn't quite in the mood when they finally got home, but he warmed up to the idea and we all had a great time.
Theme: Phineas and Ferb
Guests at the party: Nina and Grandpa, Aunt Julie, Uncle David, Trae, Carly, and Cole, Aunt Jessie and Uncle Justin, the Loukes' (Jenny, Brenden, Nolan, and Cameron), and the Kamman's (Eric, Michelle, Ella, Henry, and Charlotte.
Activities: lunch, pin the tail on perry the platypus, cake, pinata, and presents. I need to get used to parties back in the US! I was sitting there eating and chatting and not worrying about the time and all of the sudden everyone had been there for almost two hours and we hadn't done anything else! I managed to squeeze it all into the last hour. No more all day parties for us!!
