Gallos Game

Saturday evening we were invited to a professional soccer game...the Queretaro Gallos Blancos (white roosters). James had been last week with people from work, but we wanted to take the boys to experience a futbol game in Mexico. We got a babysitter for Lydia (her at a soccer game wouldn't have been fun for anyone!). It was definately an experience and I'm sure we'll be back many times while we're here!

The Mexican people are fanatics about their soccer! There's a large section of the stadium that doesn't sit down the whole game and they are constantly moving (think Izzone -for all you MSU basketball fans - on steroids!). The Gallos scored first in the first half and the crowd went wild. Whenever a ref would make a bad call, people would stand up and yell and chant a name (raterro or something like that). Well, late in the second half, the other team scored. The crowd was not happy and after the game was over everyone was chanting and people were throwing things down on the field. Well, someone from the upperdeck right above us decided to throw a pretty full beer (and the beers are HUGE) and was a little short of the field. It ended up hitting a little boy we were with in the head (right next to Ethan) and landing at our feet, covering our feet with beer. The boy was fine, just a little startled. I guess that's what you get at a Mexican futbol game. The police were ready for a charge of the field...

We had parked in some kind of field outside the stadium. We went out of the stadium a different way we came in and it was dark, so we had a little trouble finding our car, but we found it and got out of the field easily.
