Circus!

A couple of months ago I found out that the Ringling Brothers Circus was coming to Grand Rapids over Ethan's birthday weekend. None of the kids have ever been to a circus, so James and I thought it would be a fun thing to do. The kids all fell asleep in the car on the way up to Grand Rapids which worked out perfectly:

There was a preshow to the circus, so when we got inside, there was already a lot of action in the "three rings." Nolan sat down twice in random seats on our way to our seats. Below is a picture of him sitting at the end of our row, not noticing that we're way at the other end of the row:

and waiting for the circus to start.

And the show begins...

For the whole first half of the show (before intermission), Lydia sat on my lap watching intently. James said she had her scowl on most of the time ("what the heck did my parents bring me to?").

Nolan didn't love the circus while we were there..."too dark, too woud (loud), all done." He looked pretty bored, which was surprising to us, but he loved the popcorn and ate a ton. I think he was a little disappointed that there were no Monster Trucks there (it was at the same venue). When we were in the car on the way home, Nolan said, "I wike the circus." He said his favorite part was the elephants.

Ethan LOVED the circus. He got really into it and was participating and clapping the whole time. He said that his favorite part was the frisbee dogs. I was really happy that he liked it so much since it was for his birthday!

Lydia wasn't as into the circus after the intermission...
she got a little bored and started texting on James' phone.
