On day three we decided to start the day with a couple of National Monuments. Montezuma's Castle was built in the 1100s by Sinagua farmers. They are apartment-like buildings built into the side of a cliff. It was pretty impressive to look at.

After the Castle we headed to the Montezuma Well. The well is spring-fed and was used by the Sinagua people to irrigate their crops. There were also many dwellings around the well.

When we finished hiking around the well, the ranger had just come back with a sample from the well. He put a few creatures under the microscope for the kids to look at. The two little ones were really into it, but Ethan wasn't feeling great still so didn't have much interest.
We took the scenic route home and walked as close as Ethan's stomach would let us get to Bell Rock. It was beautiful!
