Winter fun in Chicago with Nolan

Nolan had his check-ups in Chicago in early January.  He was going to have to miss three days of school, but, as it turned out, two of them were snow days anyway.  The roads were pretty bad on our way to Chicago, but we made it safely to have lunch with Liesl and to Nolan's eye appointment.  The ophthalmologist said that everything looked great a year and a half after his surgery, so we can go to yearly appointments!  Nolan did have to get his eyes dilated, so he got to leave the office with these cool glasses:

From there we headed to Aunt Jessie's house for two nights.  We had the whole next day free, so we decided to take Nolan to Winter Fun at Navy Pier.  There were inflatables, zip lines, rides, and lots of Christmas and winter decor.  Chicago schools were back in session, so we had the place almost to ourselves and Nolan had a great time!

Friday afternoon, Nolan had a cardiologist appointment.  Of course we had to stop at Starbucks for a special treat when we got there!

Everything was looking good with Nolan's heart on the medication, so the Dr. wanted us to start weaning him off of the medicine to see if he had outgrown his condition.  Over the next few months, we are going to lessen the dosage amount until he is completely off of the medication.  At that point he will have a 24 hour holter monitor to see if he has any "episodes."  If he does, he will have to have the ablation.
